Day 32, Tuesday, August 8, 2006

38 this morning in Trapper Creek. Cold, but clear. Good chance of spectacular views of McKinley today. Although I have internet access here, I can't seem to get the pictures to upload to the blog. When we get to Anchorage in a few days I'm confident I will be able to do so and promise to have a lot of McKinley pictures to share with you. I did just read a notice from Blogger.com that they are experiencing some difficulties with their site. Hopefully it is their problem and not mine. Called to book a Denali flight today and they were booked (due to the good weather). I reserved a spot for tomorrow at 4:30 pm. Great views of Mt. McKinley today. Lots of pictures. Hope I can share with you soon. Stopped at the Princess Cruise Lines lodge here in Denali State Park on our way back North to spend a night at the campground with great Denali views. Had a glass of wine, saw a slide presentation on Denali put together by a famous area photographer who took 16 years taking and putting his pictures to the sound of classical music. Great show for $6.00 bucks! Then had a late lunch of grilled Copper River Salmon on a Caesar Salad and more wine. It's hard to believe how hard it is to get fresh Alaskan fish up here. Finished our drive back up the Parks Highway to the Denali North View Campground we passed by yesterday. We were one of only three campers there for the night. What a spot. For $10.00 we had a "room" for the night with Mt. McKinley in our front yard. Words and pictures can not describe our view! Watched the view change until light faded. Just could not take eyes off of it. Bought a little gas today at $3.55. Knew I could do better tomorrow.
