Day 29, Saturday, August 5, 2006

50 this morning at Teklanika. Ellen got up at 6:00am to catch her ride. She made the 7:55 am bus. She should be gone until around 5:00pm. I enjoyed the time alone today after 28 days together in the motor home. Walked the dogs about 4 times, wrote notes for the blog, cleaned the motor home, worked out, and read more information about Alaska. Mostly cloudy, and always spotty rain with sun mixed in. About 60 during the day. As stated before, no services up here. We can run the generator a few hours in the morning and evening, and water out of one faucet for the whole camp. We can't dump or tanks until we get back down so we have to carefully monitor our water usage and plan on only one shower up here. This is "boondocking"! Ellen got back a little earlier than expected, weather and bugs at Wonder Lake made her decide to not hike before making the return trip to camp. She saw a lot of wild life but nothing up close and no view of McKinley. Bummer! Another dog walk, campfire, wine, dinner, good night.
