Day 23, Sunday, July 30, 2006

49 this morning at Kluane Lake and still clear but looks like clouds coming. Temped to stay another day here as it is the most beautiful spot we have ever camped but the lure of Alaska is too strong. Left around noon and headed for the border and on to Tok, AK for the night. It clouded up and started to rain a little the rest of the day. The border crossing was uneventful ( any guns on board, any citrus from Canada, have a safe trip). By the time we arrived in Tok it was pretty cool - around 53. The campground offered a "Salmon Bake" dinner and we went for it. Ordered our food at an outside counter, went inside what was not much more than a hard sided tent for soup and salad bar, then picked up our dinner back outside at the grill when our name was called. Very good! We both had the salmon, halibut, and reindeer sausage combo. Drove 239 miles today. Gas was $4.15. Went to bed at 10:30 pm - still light out! We are now four hours earlier than Indiana. Still no cell phone service. Wi-fi here at Tok, but can't get the pictures to upload to the Blog because the connection is too slow.
