Day 17, Monday, July 24, 2006
A cool 68 this morning and sunny. Perfect! Jim got on the phone at 7:00 am and started calling to see about glass. So far we have only talked to a mechanic who works at the campground. His information was incorrect. Glass was not harder to find the further North we go. We did not have to wait in Dawson Creek after all. The glass shop in Fort St. John 50 miles up the road on the Alaska Highway said they would have the glass by 10:00 am tomorrow morning and would put it in right away. And if we wanted to keep going they have a shop in Fort Nelson 300 miles up the road as well and could have the glass there by noon on tuesday. So we got the hell out of Dawson Creek and drove to Fort Nelson. The campgrounds in town here are just as primitive and dusty and in Dawson Creek but at least it's cooler here and a change of scenery. No cell phone coverage here at all! But we do have high-speed internet at the campsite. No new pictures other than the one just to let you see how it looks here because there has been nothing of any interest to share. Other than the Canadian Rockies (Banff and Jasper and all in between) the land has been suprisingly dull. Gas today $3.85.
Our campground Tuesday morning after everyone had left. We had to wait until noon for our glass repair.
