Day 15, Saturday, July 22, 2006

Not good news today. Can't find glass for my door because no glass shops or Ford dealers are open over the weekend. Thought about just covering the window with plastic and moving on because there is nothing here worth staying for. And it's very hot and dry. But it was explained to me the farther away we go the longer and more expensive it will be to get the glass because it has to come from Edmonton. It only gets more remote from here.

So, we are here for probably 4 days. Friday was planned. Saturday and Sunday we just wait for the weekend to be over. Monday morning the glass gets ordered and bussed to here by the evening or Tuesday morning. One option I will have on Monday when the glass is ordered is to pay about $75.00 extra and have it shipped "rush", guaranteeing it by Monday afternoon and installed that early evening allowing us to get back on the road by Tuesday morning. That's what we probably will do. Why don't we just drive to Edmonton and get it done Monday morning? It's 350 miles East of where we are. So 700 miles round trip with gas at $3.50/gal.
Not an option.

Still hot and dry and sunny here today. A little cloud cover would sure make the motorhome more comfortable, especially for the dogs. The air conditioner runs all day and never cools it down to less than 78. Needless to say, we are not very happy right now. Might drive into town today and rent a car then bring the motorhome back to the campground. We're afraid to park the motorhome in town with no glass in the door.

More later.
