Day 13, Thursday, July 20, 2006

The temperature was 55 this morning. Not too bad. 70 and sunny now at 9:30. We are going to take the tram up the mountain for what is to be a spectacular view of the Canadian Rockies. Tram line too long so we purchased a “reserved” seat for 3:00 pm and went into Jasper for Sushi. Got back to the tram, left dogs in motorhome with generator on for air conditioning. About 80 out and still sunny. Seven minute ride up Mt. Whistler and then a 45 min walk up to the summit. Unbeleivable views! Back into Jasper area for a great dinner outside on the deck of a lodge in the forest. Drove on to Hinton for the night at a KOA. Only 70 miles today with all the activity around Jasper. Tomorrow we hope to drive to Dawson Creek – the start of the Alaskan Highway. While we do have an internet connection here at the KOA, it is not high-speed. After posting these written updates we will try to add pictures.

View from the top of Whistlers Peak. We took the tram up most of the way and then hiked 45 min to the top for this view.

City of Jasper from the top. (Bob Chew - can you see the golf course in this picture? Double-click on the picture to enlarge it.)
