Day 42, Friday, August 18, 2006

55 this morning in Kenai. Seems to be the normal morning temperature in Alaska. Very windy last night and this morning. The motor home was really “rocking & rolling” until we left the coastal campsite.
Kenai (the city) was a side trip to see what was here before hooking up with Kathy and Bruce closer to Anchorage at Portage Glacier - the Williwaw Campground. So we only stayed this one night and headed back. Big tides up here – 15 to 30 feet. A lot of what we saw of the Cook Inlet as water yesterday was mud flat this morning. Stopped at an R.V. parts store for awning repair, bought gas ($3.03), propane, did lots of laundry, and stocked up on groceries in Soldotna on the way back to Williwaw Campground.
Rain started up again this afternoon and it soon began pouring. Most of the rain up here has been drizzle, but this is really coming down. It’s wet! Rained too hard to leave the motor home so we ate, drank, and got goofy.
