Day 57, Saturday, September 2, 2006

40 and partly cloudy at Kluane Lake, Yk this morning. Debated staying another day but (Jim) decided to move on. Ellen really loves this area and rightly so. The only thing lacking is hiking trails or other things to do. I'ts a great place to relax, enjoy the beauty, read a book, sit by a fire, etc. But Jim can smell home and wants to keep moving. Good-bye Kluane! Drove 215 miles to Haines, Ak. Gas in the other day in Tok was $3.25 but $4.25 today in the Yukon. Didn't buy today in Haines but it is $3.58. Another beautiful driving day today. So much to take in, so little the camera captures. Our braines are being saturated with beauty as we experience all this scenery. It's funny how often we say to each other - this is the most beautiful site of all. We pulled over a lot to take pictures and do a few short hikes. As most of this trip, no wildlife spotted. Haines is really a small town. Our RV Park is on the outskirts of town but we can walk anywhere. This park is all grass!! No mud, no gravel, no standing water, no bugs! Kind of nice and the dogs really like the "yard". Simple smoked salmon dinner and dog walk into town around 9:00 pm. We were about the only ones out. Back to the motor home and shortly to bed. Will try to upload pictures tomorrow.
