Day 47, Wednesday, August 23, 2006
42 last night in Homer. Cool, but what a day today. Sunshine and blue sky! Beautiful views of the bay and the snow-capped mountains all around. We decided to make use of the clear skys, best day in 6-8 weeks according to others who have been here awhile, and booked a 1 hour flightseeing tour. Very beautiful views of the glaciers, snowfields, Cook Inlet, and mountains around Homer. Homer is supposed to be the best place in Alaska to see bald eagles but we have yet to see one. The weather stayed clear all day - again, what a beautiful day. Alaska is sure great when you can see it. More glass trouble for the motor home. Yesterday, a small chip in the windshield that had been there for weeks grew into a crack that continues to wonder around the glass. And, to top it off, we were putting the awning away this afternoon and it slipped off its bracket and smashed into the glass by the dinette table shattering it into a thousand pieces. Another trip to the glass shop tomorrow for a plexiglass repair - replacement glass would take 4 weeks to arrive.
Downtown Homer
Ellen at the Salty Dawg in Homer ready to drink a "Moose Fart" - not her first or her last
All of us on The Homer beach - our campground
Yah-Hoo
Ready to flightsee around Homer
