THE BTCruisers in Alaska 2006

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

Welcome to the BTCruisers blog site.

Our motor home is a Gulfstream BTCruiser, therefore the blog name. The purpose of the blog is to share our travels with family and friends on a daily basis as long as internet access is available.

On several previous trips we simply gave up on doing this because of poor (or slow) internet access as our preferred camp sites are not in private campgrounds that usually have wi-fi, but in state or national parks that have none. So we use a cell phone as a modem to connect to the internet and as long as we are in “native” Verizon territory experience very good access – but if in their extended network only receive a very, very slow connection not suitable for downloading pictures. And so far most of our travels, this trip included, have been out of “native” Verizon coverage area.

This trip to Alaska, however, is too important and too long (up to three months) to not make every effort to share it with you. We will post a daily log of where we have been and what we have done (with pictures) but will probably only be able to update this site every 2 or 3 or 4 days. The site allows you to leave us comments so please let us know what you think and what’s new with you.
